JV

Justervesenet (JV) is a governmental agency under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, responsible for the Norwegian metrology infrastructure and ensuring its national and international acceptance. Its tasks and responsibilities are based on the “Law on measurement units, measuring and standard time.”

JV has national responsibility in two main areas: legal metrology and national measurement standards. In the legal (regulated) area, JV is responsible for inspection and verification, approval of e-marking, and preparing national regulation in the area of metrology. The agency offers various services, including calibration against national standards, consultancy in metrology, courses, seminars, and in-house training, research and development projects, and services as a notified body for measuring instruments.
