OptiFish joins joint stakeholder meeting hosted by AZTI in Derio

OptiFish recently took part in a joint stakeholder meeting hosted by AZTI at its headquarters in Derio. The meeting brought together three European projects: INFINIFISH, MarineGuardian, and OptiFish, with support from SINTEF Ocean and Cefas.

The event created a space for dialogue between researchers, industry representatives, technology developers, policymakers, and fisheries stakeholders. Discussions focused on the importance of stakeholder engagement in ensuring that innovation responds to real operational needs and can be effectively adopted by the sector.

For OptiFish, this exchange is directly connected to the project’s work on digital catch monitoring, transparency, and control systems. Through digital and AI-based technologies, OptiFish aims to support more accurate catch monitoring and reporting in European fisheries.

The meeting also highlighted the complementarity between the three projects:

  • INFINIFISH is advancing climate-resilient and energy-efficient fisheries.
  • MarineGuardian is developing solutions to reduce environmental impacts and protect marine ecosystems.
  • OptiFish focuses on enhancing catch monitoring, transparency, and control systems through digital and AI-based technologies.

OptiFish thanks AZTI for hosting the meeting, as well as SINTEF Ocean, Cefas, ILVO, ZUNIBAL, and all participating stakeholders for contributing to the discussion.

By strengthening collaboration across projects and stakeholders, OptiFish continues to contribute to a more sustainable, innovative, and resilient future for European fisheries.
